We are an independent political media outlet specialising in European and French public policy, founded in 2013. Our obsession? Depth: facts, data, texts... Revealing what’s essential, at the right time, in the right form.

At Contexte, we publish information that is thorough, prioritised and accessible. It gives you a better understanding of your environment so you can anticipate, make decisions, and build more solid positions – and, in so doing, bring democracy to life. Our audience is people whose day-to-day lives are affected by public decisions: professionals in the public and private sphere, in all sectors and at all levels.

Useful information

We produce expert, granular, prioritised information: in-depth information that doesn't aim to influence, but to be useful. This is embodied in clear briefings, precise analyses and purposeful monitoring tools, designed to be useful both immediately and over the long term.

Independent information

Although our aim is not to disturb, we are not afraid to disturb either. This freedom is an essential condition for us to play our role.

Our freedom is based first and foremost on independent ownership. At Contexte, 100% of the capital belongs to the staff. We are not a tool serving political or economic interests.

We are masters of our own destiny, free to make choices exclusively in the interest of the media outlet, and therefore of our subscribers.

Our independence is also financial – our income comes exclusively from our subscribers – and editorial – we apply a strict separation of powers between the editorial team and the sales team.

We disclose our collective and individual interests and practices, so that you can assess our degree of independence.

A unique collective

This mission requires a strong collective, one that values caring as much as thoroughness.

Our quest for excellence drives us to maintain high standards, to continually improve and to achieve results that count. But we can’t make fundamental changes without trust, commitment and taking pleasure in working together. Our model – a work in progress – is based on the independence and responsibility of each individual, within a clear framework developed together.

At Contexte, everyone is free to express their ideas, doubts and intuitions. Everyone can decide, act, learn and make mistakes. We encourage each other to dedicate ourselves fully as individuals, with our ideas, our emotions and everything that makes us unique. Validation is not a chain of command, but a culture of support. Our managers provide guidance with confidence, seeing mistakes as learning opportunities.

We believe it is important for all of us to uphold high standards, not in opposition to kindness, but supporting it. Because what we do requires us to be thorough, but also to care for others, to create an environment of support and respect conducive to collaboration. Because our effectiveness also depends on our ability to remain curious, lively and responsible.
